Vadie Esolene “Jitter” Dawson, 90, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Esolene was a believer in Christ and was a longtime member of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. For her whole life, she was a homemaker and loved being able to care for people. She absolutely adored any and all babies, but she always held a special place in her heart for her babies, grandbabies, and great-grandbabies. Crocheting blankets was one way she enjoyed keeping herself busy and sharing her love. Esolene was a kind and generous woman that could get along with anyone. Everyone that met her loved her, and she loved everyone back just the same. She often helped her neighbors and liked to help transport them around. Besides caring for others and crocheting, she also really liked to go catfishing. Esolene is survived by her siblings, Wanda Joslin (D.J.) and Travis Johnson (Sharon); her grandchildren, Justin Dawson (Samantha) and Jonathan Dawson (Lindsey); her great-grandchildren, Carter, Laney, Charley Kate, Jolene, and James; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Dawson; and many other loved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Dawson; her children, James T. “Jimmy” Dawson, Jr., Michael Wayne Dawson, and Randy Dawson; her parents, Herbert and Dona Johnson; and her siblings, H.O. Johnson and Marlene Keith. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Sis. Wanda Joslin, Travis Johnson, Justin Dawson, Jonathan Dawson, and Edward Johnson. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Esolene’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Tishomingo Manor Nursing home for the love and special care they showed to Esolene.
