Lillie Ruth Mckenzie Smith

Lillie Ruth McKenzie Smith, 85, of Snow Hill, North Carolina, died on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in her home. Mrs. Lillie lived in Iuka for over 25 years and moved to Snow Hill, NC, eight years ago to live with her daughter. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Iuka and loved being able to attend. She was a huge people person and had never met a stranger. When she wasn’t talking or taking care of someone, she enjoyed sewing and listening to people play music. Mrs. Lillie is survived by her daughter, Brenda S. Tilghman; her son-in-law, Cannis Tilghman; her grandsons, Jesse Walters and William Stanley; and her granddaughter, Sara Johnson Field. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer J. Smith; her daughters, Donna Stanley and Kathy Walters; her sons, James “Jim” Counts, Joseph “Joe” Counts, and Michael O. Stanley; and her parents, Joe McKenzie and Audie Sikes McKenzie. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Wayne Crum. Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
