Jennifer Dees Grisham

Jennifer Dees Grisham died on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 after battling cancer for almost 6 years.  She died in her home with her loving parents and adoring husband by her side while her friends and ever-present dogs and cat paced nearby.

Jennifer was born on September 28th, 1977 to Jimmy and Sue Dees.  She graduated from Tishomingo County High School in 1996 and from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Marketing.  She also obtained her Mississippi Real Estate License in recent years.

After living in Florence, AL and Birmingham, AL, Jennifer returned to Iuka in 2007. She reconnected with Seth Grisham in 2014, and after decades of friendship, they were married in 2017.  This loving, respectful, and attentive relationship has been witnessed by all those that have been lucky enough to have seen them together.  When discussing what makes their marriage so strong, “True Love” is often brought up.  The phrases “Soul Mate," “Meant to Be," and “Written in the Stars” are often used. Others say that Seth is just smart and strong enough to do what Jennifer said.  Those closest to them know it was a good mixture of all those things with a healthy dose of trust and complete devotion.

Jennifer can be described as strong, driven, tenacious, intelligent, capable, and fiercely loyal. She will always be known for her contagious smile and giggle, her free spirit, her love of the lake, and a lover of all dogs. She enjoyed writing and journaling but mostly loved being surrounded by her family and friends…and her dogs, of course.

Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Seth Grisham; her step-daughter, Effie Claire Grisham; her parents, Jimmy and Sue Dees; and her in-laws, Robbie and Sharlene Grisham, all of Iuka. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Noah and Stella Hearn Dees and Lewis and Lucille Swearengin Cornelison.
