Earline Barnes Whitfield

Mona Earline Barnes Whitfield, 95, of Iuka, Mississippi, was welcomed into Heaven on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Whitfield was born on February 27, 1926, to Lillian Woodruff Barnes and Earl Wheeler Barnes. She became the wife of James Clay Whitfield, son of Walter and Georgia Seago Whitfield, on July 4, 1946. She was a former employee of Genesco Shoe Company and Ripley Screen Company. Being a meticulous homemaker and excelling in her cooking skills, she was known for welcoming family and guests into their home and for her coconut cake. She was a lifetime member of Harmony Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Vines; a grandson, Clifford Clay Vines (Renee); her great-grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Vines, Samuel Lee Vines, and Seth Carson Vines; four sisters, Louise Cox, Hilda Grisham, Bernice Perry, and Ann Barnes; and a sister-in-law, Mary Linton Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clay Whitfield; her parents, Earl Wheeler and Lillian Woodruff Barnes; a granddaughter, Monica Lee Vines; a brother, Keiffer Barnes; and three brothers-in-law, Jimmy Grisham, Kenneth Cox, and Perk Perry. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 28, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Cliff Vines. Interment will follow in Cypress Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Lynn Perry, Samuel Vines, Seth Vines, Austin Whitfield, Andrew Whitfield, and Alex Whitfield. Visitation is scheduled for 2:00 until 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 28, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Memorials may be made to Harmony Cemetery Fund.
