Billie Jean Hester

Billie Jean Hester, 88, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home in Iuka. Mrs. Billie Jean worked in the school system for 43 years. She mostly worked in the cafeteria at Tishomingo school, but for several years, she worked as a teacher’s aid in the special education classrooms at Tishomingo and Belmont. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, and listening to Gospel and Blue Grass music. She was a huge animal person and had a Maltipoo named Molly that she loved immensely. Mrs. Billie Jean is survived by her son, Gary Lynn Hester; her daughter-in-law, Alicia Hester; her dearly loved dog, Molly; and her special friend, Hubert Jourdan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman Hester; and her parents, Christine and Johnny Dempsey. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Roger Wood. Interment will be in New Prospect Cemetery.
