Dr. Jerry Clay Stone, 75, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Saturday, October 19, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Dr. Jerry Clay Stone graduated from Ethel High school. He received a Masters in Educational Administration in 1966 and a Doctorate in Educational Administration in 1975 from Mississippi State University. He taught Distributive Education and coached at Kosciusko and Grenada high schools. He served as Coordinator of Distributive Education and the Director of Continuing Education at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He served as superintendent of the Iuka Municipal Separate School District from 1977 to 1991. He served as Superintendent of the Hazen Arkansas schools from 1992 to 1996. He retired from Copiah Lincoln Community College. He was member of the Tishomingo County Retired Education Personnel and the Mississippi Retired Public Employees’ Association. He was a Mississippi DECA honorary lifetime member, a recipient of Arkansas’ distinguished leadership award, served as president of the Northeast Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, and served on the Executive Committee of the Mississippi High School Activities Association. He was an active member of the Iuka Baptist Church. He was a former member of Rotary International, the Community Development Foundation and Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Wheels of Northeast Mississippi Car Club. He and his wife of 55 years enjoyed their retirement years with gardening, traveling and grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, at Iuka Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Gary Watkins and Bro. Shandy Dill. Graveside services will follow in Parkway Cemetery at 3:30 in Kosciusko, MS. Pallbearers include Alan Bruce, Richard Christian, Damon Dial, Don Herrington, John Evans, and Charles E. Simmons. Honorary Pallbearers include members of Wheels of Northeast MS Car Club and the Men’s IV Sunday School Class. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Jacks Stone of Iuka, MS; a son, Daniel Ingram Stone of San Francisco, CA; three daughters, Lady Anne Stone Bruce of Diamondhead, MS, Lark Stone Christian and husband Richard of Vancleave, MS, and Joy Stone Ansley of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren, Damon Dial, Jessica Dial, Laurel Bruce, Alan Clay Bruce, Jera Christian, Shelby Glen Christian; two great grandchildren, Aiden Dial and Jossalyn Dial. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay A. and Loray Hilbun Stone, a son, William Clay Stone, a son in law, Robert Bruce and a sister, June Stone Sculthorpe.
