William Stanley Dexter, 73, of Iuka, MS passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Stanley was the son of the Late W.T. and Betty Dexter. Stan graduated from Smithville High School where he excelled in sports and was an all conference tailback his junior and senior years. He was a page for Senator John C. Stennis in Washington, D.C. He then atteneded college at Mississippi State for three years and left college to work for Bell South where he retired after 35 years. He retired so that he could do what he loved best, farm. He was a member of the Airborne National Guard in his younger years. Stanley loved his family and friends and his farm. He loved the lake and he and his wife spent a lot of time there with family and numerous friends. He was a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church and a Mason. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia L. Dexter; his daughter, Dawn Laster (Brad); his son, Matt Dexter; his step daughter, Kelly English; his step son, Jeremy Cooksey (Lorrie); his grandchildren, Tyler Smith (Jenna), Taylor LaFever (Hunter), Jaxson Laster, and Brody Dexter; his step grandchildren, Drew English, Annslee Cooksey, and Beckham Cooksey; and his great grandchildren, Tatum Smith, Kohen Smith, and Baylor LaFever. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Betty Sue Nixon Dexter. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 5pm until 8pm, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from Noon until the time of service. Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 2pm at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Phillip Whitehead and Rev. Kerry Powell. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Newcomb, Ricky Cornelison, Gary Ray, Chunk Daugherty, Michael Voyles, Claude Dalton, Heath Ham, and Lance Heavener. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Bailey, Dr. Al Flannery, James Butler, Jerry Wayne White, Dale Wadkins, David Gist, John Dennis Daugherty, and Brandon Stephens.
