Vera Mae McDougal White died on December 14, 2021, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, MS. She was the daughter of the late L.E. McDougal and Lela Mae Greene McDougal Marler. She was the step-daughter of the late Henry Marler. Also, preceding her in death were her daughter, Liz, and son Larry White. Vera was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid reader, and, as her vision faded, she very much enjoyed listening to Talking Books provided by Friends of Handicapped Readers. She also enjoyed sending cards and letters to many people and loved Elvis music. Another favorite pastime was watching MSU, Ole Miss, and Dallas Cowboys football. She was a lifelong member of Tishomingo Baptist Church. Vera attended NEMCC, Southern Miss, and MSU. Formerly, she was a substitute teacher, a factory worker, and the city clerk for the Town of Tishomingo. She is survived by her daughter Leigh White Hamilton, Iuka, her daughter-in-law Nancy White, Florence, AL, five grandchildren, Brock Hamilton (Ashley), Nashville, TN, Hayley Hamilton Welch (Mason), Fulton, MS, Lauren White Pruitt (Greer), Madison, AL, Brad White (Loni), Florence, AL, and Ashley White, Florence, AL. She treasured her best friend, Martha Lee Walker, Tishomingo. She had seven great-grandchildren Tatum and Eli Pruitt, plus one on the way, Aly Hamrick, Arlo, and Archie White, Harper Hamilton, and Adeline Mae Welch. A private visitation and service will be held, and burial will be at Tishomingo City Cemetery. The Reverend Mason Welch will perform the service. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Joslin, Larry Greene, Brock Hamilton, Kirby McRae, Stanley Page, Gary Walker, Mason Welch, and Brad White.
