Tressie DeFoor Whitfield, 99, went to Heaven, December 22, 2019, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. She was born October 16, 1920 in Burnsville, MS. During her life she was a daughter, 11th of 13, sister, welder during the war, wife and mother. Tressie was a very talented lady. No craft was beyond her ability. She made and taught ceramics and produced porcelain dolls in the Memphis area for years. She won "Best of Show" in the Memphis Ceramic Association show with her porcelain Eagle and other awards with her dolls. She studied every reference in the Bible on eagles and how a mother eagles made their nest and protected their babies. She was also President of the Memphis area Doll Club for years. Her "Hat" shows her humor. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Memphis for many years. The family would like to thank the Whitfield Nursing Home in Corinth for their good care of Tressie since 2012. She is survived by two sons, Barry (Martha) recently of Burnsville and Eddie of Jackson, TN; one granddaughter, Micah Whitfield Lowrance (Cole) of Bethel Springs, TN; one great granddaughter, Kenna Elizabeth; and one sister, Lessie May Gattis Foster of Corinth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Whitfield; her father, Henry Walter DeFoor; her mother, Mary Jane Dickerson; and 11 brothers and sisters. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2019 from 11am until 1pm at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Services are scheduled for 1pm, Friday, December 27, 2019 at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, officiated by Bro. Jimmy Rich. Interment will be in Little Flock Cemetery.
