Thomas, “Tom” Lee, husband, brother, friend has gone to be with his Savior. Born January 17,1945, he was a native of Simpson County, Mississippi. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gene Lee and Edwina Rogers Lee, his paternal grandparents, J.W., Sr. and Dezzie D. Lee, all of Simpson County; maternal grandparents, S.E. and Gladys Sills Rogers of New Hebron.
His early education years were spent at both Pinola and New Hebron Attendance Centers, graduating from NHS in 1963. Tom later graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. As a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a student staff member at MSU Alumni House, he made many lifelong friends and remained an avid Bulldog supporter. But he also felt rooting for Ole Miss (when they weren’t playing the Big Dogs) was the “Mississippi” thing to do. Tom’s favorite game day activity, if not in the stadium, was to listen on his trusty radio. He became an accomplished pilot which he used for both pleasure and work, but enjoying nature’s solitude was a special pastime, especially his love for birds.
His career allowed him the privilege of working numerous building and paper mill projects across the country and around the world. One of those projects with Rust Engineering, ASRM at Yellow Creek, brought him to the Iuka area in the early 90’s, later calling Corinth his home.
Experiencing numerous health issues over the past several years, he became more in tune than ever before with what Christ’s amazing grace had done for him, and that became his priority to share with others. The warmth he must have felt when entering the presence of God is one we can all cling to. Stubborn, yes…aggravating to the limit, yes…loner, most of the time….and deep beyond comprehension, almost all the time….saved by grace forever, that was Tom Lee.
He is survived by his wife Treva, stepchildren Gina Kirtzic, Denver CO; Mendy Vanderford (Ken), CO; Brian Belue (Brandy) VA;. He also leaves behind three sisters, Carol Lee McCulloch (Larry), Vinton, VA, Robin Gaston Greenlee (Larry), Kilmichael, and Lori Smith (Pat) Lester, AL. and awesome friend Jim Wilbanks, Corinth.
Due to the current health crisis in our country, the family has chosen a private burial at Hubbard Salem Cemetery with a memorial service at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to www.cutshallfuneralhome.com.
Till we see each other again ..
