Talmadge Alford McDuffy, 86, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, surrounded by his family at home. Talmadge was incredibly passionate about restoring old cars, especially Falcons, Mustangs, and Fairlanes. He loved to pass time by listening to music on Kudzu 104.9, as bluegrass was his favorite. When he wasn’t working on cars or listening to music, he was spending time with his family. He loved each and every one of them with all of his heart. His great-granddaughter, Harper, was his diamond, his little girl, and he would light up at the sight of her. He loved his son-in-law and his grandchildren as if they were his own children, and they always stayed on his mind. His family kept him young and brought so much joy to his life. Talmadge is survived by his daughter, Pam Wilson (David); his grandchildren, Samantha McDuffy and Matthew Wilson (Shae’a); his great-granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth Wilson; his sister, Mamie Adams; his brother, Jack McDuffy; and his cat, Baby “Deadbeat” McDuffy, whom he had a love-hate relationship with. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel McDuffy; his son, Sammy Don McDuffy; his parents, James Alford and Verdea Mae Gray McDuffy; and his siblings, Myrtle McDuffy, Christine Gray, Hershel McDuffy, and Bill McDuffy. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. An online guestbook can be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com .
A few words from Talmadge’s daughter, Pam, “Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Poppie managed his illness with strength and perseverance. On his final day, he didn’t neglect to tell me that he was “proud of me.” He was surrounded by his family as his favorite gem Harper sang ‘Jesus Loves Me’. To my father, I love you more than words could ever express. A piece of my heart left October 5 th and will forever be missing. Your love was unconditional. I’m not sure how to go on through this world without you, but you taught me to never give up. “We don’t give up.” I love you with all my heart, Dad. Always. -Your Babygirl.”
