Suzanne Deaton, aged 76, of Iuka, MS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her cherished home, surrounded by love.

Known affectionately as Mawmaw Sue, Suzanne was a beacon of warmth and compassion to all who knew her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working outside and nurturing her beloved garden, finding solace in nature, and creating beautiful memories with her grandchildren. Her spirit thrived during family gatherings, particularly when visiting the stunning Smoky Mountains, where laughter echoed through the trees. Her deep affection for her animals mirrored the kindness that filled her heart.

Suzanne leaves behind a loving family including her children, Tommy Sowards (Cindy), Kim Amerson (Dion), and Kristie Sowards (Clay); and her step-children, Deborah Thorne (Steve), Dianne Henson (Nickey), and Jessica Daily (Chris). She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Tyler Cavness (Ashley), Daniel Sowards, Kellie Burks (BJ), Dylan Amerson (McKenna), Colten Epperson (Aubree), Jeremy Amerson (Zoei), and Caden Ham, her step-grandchildren, Cassie Pharr (Ben), Andrew Thorne (Laura), Chasidy Byrd (Zac), Mandy Henson, Adam Henson (Maddie), Natalie Storment, Baylor Storment, Xzaviar Daily, and Kingston Daily; as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Madeline Cavness and Elliana Amerson. She is also survived by her siblings, Jane Adkins and David Wilson (Pam), along with her niece and nephews, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Deaton, her daughter, Kathie Sowards, and her parents, Charlie and Willard Evelyn Calley Wilson.

A visitation in honor of Suzanne will take place on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, which will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will follow. Pallbearers will include her cherished grandsons, Colten Epperson, Caden Ham, Daniel Sowards, Dylan Amerson, Jeremy Amerson, and BJ Burks, alongside honorary pallbearers Dr. Brad Murray, Tyler Cavness and Lanny Ham.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tishomingo County Foster Rescue, c/o Gail Milligan, to honor Suzanne's generous spirit and her love for all living beings.

Suzanne Deaton will forever be remembered for her nurturing heart, her unwavering dedication to family, and her radiant love that left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of many.
