Ray Gene South

Ray Gene South, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Born March 14, 1935 to David Jacob and Mary Pearlie Fell South, Ray was a Christian who loved the Lord. He was a kind and loving man who enjoyed helping those in need. He was a faithful member of Snowdown United Methodist Church. He retired from Sears in Memphis, TN, after 38 years of service. Ray enjoyed all sports and especially loved the restoration of his 1926 T Model. He was a blessing to his family and they were a blessing to him. He is survived by his wife, Lola Moore South; two sons, Thomas Gene South (Terri) and David Ray South (Teresa); five grandchildren, Christopher South, Lauren Brock (Adam), Jackson South, Matthew South (Stephanie), and Alexandria Weber (Brian); and three great-grandchildren, Elijah South, Logan South, and Emma Caroline Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Jacob and Mary Pearlie Fell South; his grandparents, John Bryson and Mahalia Odom South, and Henry Jackson and Janie Kidd Fell; a sister, May Crumpton; and two brothers, Alfred “Bill” South and Aaron South. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, graveside at Snowdown Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Bradley Smullins. Interment will follow in Snowdown Cemetery. Pallbearers include his sons, Thomas and David South, his grandsons, Christopher, Matthew, and Jackson South, and his grandson-in-law, Brian Weber. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Moore, Gene Worsham, Dr. Ben Kitchens, Adam Brock, and his Jack’s coffee buddies.
