Mary Kathryn Helen Leonaitis, 62, of Chicago IL, passed away on Thursday November 18 2021, at Magnolia Regional Health Center - Corinth MS.
Mary was born on October 02,1959 and was the daughter of the late Amos and Lois (Springhorn) Fegan.
She and her husband, Joseph Leonaitis, moved to Iuka MS in 2001 in order to give their children better, brighter futures. In this, she succeeded.
Mary was a quick-witted and clever woman who was able to learn several complicated jobs over her lifetime rather quickly - she’d worked as everything from a pharmacist’s assistant technician to a licensed EMT to a serv-safe qualified quick-stop cook to a star of the sterile processing work division at Magnolia hospital.
Mary was a compassionate woman who would lend a steady shoulder to a complete stranger having a terrible day - and witty enough to have a funny quip to cheer them when they were down. She had a knack for memorizing songs and could often name them after hearing only a few bars; she also loved musicals and little sculptures of mice baking pastries. She could cross-stitch and sew and came up with novel engineering solutions to problems that stumped those around her. She would always encourage her children to think critically and question everything, loving them through the million things they’d ask her growing up. She made the lives of everyone around her shine all the more brighter and even now, she glitters vibrantly enough to make stars weep with jealousy.
Surviving Mary are her two human children, Charlie (Broc) and Caitlin-Erin Leonaitis - and her four-legged children George the feist and Peanut the troublemaker; her siblings Maureen (Danny) Sheedy, Thomas (Jackie) Fegan, and Joan Dissette, her sisters-in-law Barbara Konzcal and Theresa Fegan, her nieces and nephews Austin, Karli, Briley, Jackie, Dan, John, Jake, Tim, Michael Colin, Ryan, Patrice, Tom, Siobhan, Tommy, Nick, John, Tom, Mary, Danny, and Andi - and friends more countless than the stars.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Lois (Fegan) Ford, her brother-in-law Eddie Ford, her four brothers, Patrick, Michael, Timothy, and Dan Fegan, and her first husband Daniel Oberheim.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. An online guestbook may be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com .
