Margaret Yow Counce

Margaret Louise Yow Counce, 77, of Belden, MS, formerly of Iuka, MS, died Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility in Baldwyn, MS. For those who knew Margaret, they knew she was a one-of-a-kind woman and a true gem. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was always her first priority. Throughout her life, Margaret spent countless hours at any dance, cheer, or any other family function. You name it, she was there supporting her family. She spent her life taking care of those around her.  She was a fun-loving friend, and she never once met a stranger. She loved animals and nature, as well as helping others. Margaret had a feisty spirit about her, and even in her final days she never lost her sense of humor or wit with the staff at the nursing home and others. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo and was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord deeply. One of her famous sayings was, “God’s looking on”, and you knew that she believed this in her core. She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Counce, Jr. of Belden; two daughters, Sherry Miller (Brad) of Saltillo, and Vickie Cooper (Tom) of Wiggins; two sons, Tim Counce (Joy) of Lockhart, TX, and Tom Counce of Saltillo; one brother, Alton Ray Yow of Southaven; five grandchildren, Emily Miller Brandon (Toby), Meredith Miller (Fiancé, Robert Sessums), T. J. Counce, Tori Counce, and Lige Counce; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Frances Hobbs Yow; and three brothers, Wayne, Hoyt, and Donald Yow. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Visitation is scheduled for 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tupelo Humane Society or Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo.
