M.B. Phifer, 91, of Burnsville, MS passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his residence. M.B. enjoyed being a member of New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church. He also enjoyed riding four wheelers, deer hunting, and fishing. His favorite past time was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. M.B. spent his working life on the Tenn-Tom Waterway, the First District Shed, and working maintenance at the Vo-Tech. He is survived by one son, Waylon Phifer (Sheila); three grandchildren, Kim Cox (Bill), Kayla Needham (Brad), and Riley Phifer; a sister in law, Glenda Wright; five great grandchildren, Dallas Stricklen (Seth), Olivia Stricklen (Ty), Lincoln Cox, Hayden Lambert, and Peyton Needham; special friends, Dustin Lambert and family, Buddy and Vonda Hall, Earl and Magalene Spradling, and David and Gina Hare; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonne Phifer; one son, Wendell Phifer; his parents, Clifton and Dona Phifer; and four brothers, Oris, Owen, Cecil, and L.D. Phifer. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, officiated by Bro. Jack Whitley. Burial will be in New Lebanon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Cox, Dustin Lambert, Brad Needham, Tommy Bonds, Brennen Hendrix, and Tim Hendrix. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Bailey, Randy Maness, David Hare, Ear Spradling, Dr. Al Flannery, Buddy Hall, Darrel Clayton, Cotton Wade, and Jerry Hazelwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in M.B.'s honor to the New Lebanon Cemetery Fund C/O Buddy Hall, 33 County Road 1481, Tishomingo, MS 38873.
