Luther Varnell Davis

Luther Varnell Davis, 72, of Iuka, MS, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home in Iuka. Mr. Davis loved the Lord, and grew up attending Hubbard Salem Church. He was happily married for 51 years, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also an animal lover, and enjoyed hunting and running his dogs. Mr. Davis also really enjoyed gospel music. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, at Hubbard Salem Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Raymond Osborn. Interment will follow in Hubbard Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers include James Davis, Luther Davis, Teddy Davis, Melvin Davis, Darrin Cowgill, and Dr. Ben Kitchens. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Davis; three daughters, Patricia Davis Murphy (Rickey Dooley), Angela Davis McMahan (Billy), and Jessica Davis (Darrin Cowgill); one brother, Edward Davis (Fairy); four sisters, Faye Bible (Joe), Oralee McManus, Jean Lovelace, and Lola Kay (Tom); seven grandchildren, Johnna Roland, Savannah Murphy, Kayla Green, Ashlee James (Wes), Kala McMahan (A.J.), Connor Cowgill, and Abby Cowgill; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Isaac, Caleb, and Naomi Green; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeeBell and Inez Myrick Davis; a grandson, Lucas McMahan; and three brothers, Richard Davis, Leon Davis, and Odle Davis.
