Lucas Dylan Russo, 24, born Monday, July 22, 1996 in Savannah, Tennessee went to be with the LORD on Monday, November 9, 2020. Lucas was a shining light to each and every person he encountered.  He worshipped the LORD at Berea Church of Christ during his formative years, until he moved his membership to the Iuka Church of Christ.  At both of these churches, he often boldly spoke to both the congregation and served the youth.  He was a devout Christian and embodied everything that Christ charges his followers to be about and do.  He frequently earned awards at the "Lads to Leaders" Program. Lucas had his primary education at Burnsville Middle School where he was a Proud Mustang.  He continued his secondary education at Tishomingo County High School where he was the Student Body President, played soccer, was in the Beta Club, was on the Bravada Drama Team,  "Who's Who - Most School Spirit", was an Honor Graduate, and a proud Brave.  After High School, Lucas continued his education at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee.  At FHU, Lucas was an Ayers Scholar, a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Social Club, emceed Making Music, a member of the Student Government Association, involved with multiple Intramural Sports Teams, and was a guest speaker at University Chapel.  Lucas even found time to earn two Bachelor's Degrees while being involved in all of that.  Lucas graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and another one in Youth Ministry.  He was a true Maroon Lion. Lucas enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, horseshoes, cornhole, traveling, following his Mississippi State Bulldogs, his Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls.  His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and friends, serving the youth at Mid-South Youth Camp, speaking to youth, and Baptizing youth in the name of the LORD.  Lucas was employed by his father's construction company "Russo Construction"  where they primarily installed and repaired metal roofs. Lucas had a special relationship with his parents, Richard Daniel Russo, Sr. and Beverly Strickland Russo, who he affectionately referred to as "Madre".  Lucas loved his brother and sister-in-law, Richard D. Russo, II and Sarah Bailey Russo.  He was an extremely proud uncle to Gabriella Russo, Trey Russo, Clay Russo, and Olivia Russo.  He is survived by all of these as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and church family members.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alfred and Kay Russo and Hoyt and Valerie Strickland. The visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. and the funeral will be held at the Iuka Church of Christ on Battleground Drive, Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 P.M..  Lucas' final resting place is at Roland Mills Cemetery in Burnsville, Mississippi.  Pallbearers are Davis Hill, Tucker Hill, Perry Mask, Clint Ellis, Logan Strickland, Nate McPheters, Jason Killough, and Dylan Hight.  Honorary Pallbearers are Trey Russo, Clay Russo, Stephen McCalmon, Gary Mask, Daniel Chappell, and members of Phi Kappa Alpha Social Club. In Lucas' short time on this Earth, he left a giant footprint and was a shining light.  Just two weeks ago, he gave his time to speak at the Tishomingo County High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He spoke on II Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith."  Also, his favorite verse which was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me." In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking for monetary donations to the Lucas Russo Memorial Scholarship Fund.  A new scholarship that will be open to applicants from Tishomingo County High School. It will be awarded to a Senior at Tishomingo County High School who exemplifies faith, family, servitude, academics, citizenship, and all the qualities that made Lucas so special.  The student must be admitted and willing to enroll as a Freshman at Freed-Hardeman University.  Please mail checks to: Lucas Russo Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o First American National Bank P.O.
