Lora Maye Nunley Floyd, 97, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Maye was a devoted Christian and lived every day of her life for the Lord. She and her beloved husband, Lawrence, moved from Iuka to the Chicago area in 1950 and stayed until retiring back to Iuka in 1994. During their time in Illinois, Mrs. Maye was very active in their church and taught Sunday school for many years. She also drove a school bus the last 18 years of their time in Illinois until retiring in Iuka. Her kindness and good-hearted spirit made her a favorite to all the children on her routes. In 1995, Mrs. Maye became a member of Iuka Baptist Church and continued her involvement in different ways, such as being a part of the Women’s Missionary Union. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and attending bible studies. She was a very kind woman that cared for many, but her daughter and family held a very special place in her heart. Mrs. Maye is survived by her daughter, Mayecilla Boston; her grandchildren, David (Alicia), Jonathan (Christi), and Michael Hart (Mandi); her great-grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah), Sophia, Nathan, Dylan, Alexandra, Ethan, Josiah, Victoria, and Daniel Hart; her great-great-grandchildren, Jacoby, Joseph, and Xavier Hart; her sister-in-law, Elsie Nunley; 3 nieces; 3 nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Floyd; her parents, Annie and Myrrel “Dude” Nunley; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Dr. Tony Curtis and Bro. Stanley Magill. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Memorials can be made in Mrs. Maye’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
