Kirk Henry Brown

March 5, 1938 — May 17, 2019

Kirk Henry Brown, 81, of Iuka, MS, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Kirk was a lifelong faithful and loyal man to Jesus, Church, family, and work. In his early years, after graduation from high school, he sacrificed his own wants to help provide for his sisters and brother, and later for his own family, working and providing a stable environment for his wife and three boys. He worked eight years at Genesco shoe factory and 32 years at Conalco aluminum plant. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also loved watching the New York Yankees play baseball and Ole Miss Rebels play football. Kirk played catcher for fastpitch softball and hit the longest ball on Jordan pasture, which went over the railroad tracks. His greatest thrill was watching his kids and grandkids play sports, thinking they were following in his footsteps. He loved farming, successfully raising cattle, pigs, chickens, and vegetables. Kirk served our country in the Army National Guard for eight years. He served on his church deacon committee, was a song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Iuka Baptist Church. Kirk was THE example to follow as a brother in Christ, husband of 57 years, Poppaw, and Dad, as well as being a good friend to many. Now he is walking the streets of gold with his Jesus and all of those who preceded him. We celebrate his life and know that we are all better because we have known him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Marie Brown of Iuka; three sons, Malcolm Eugene Brown of Iuka, Glenn Henry Brown of Corinth, and Tony Everett Brown (Christy) of Iuka; seven grandchildren, Addy Devers (Dustin), Payton Brown Dylan Brown, Millicent Johnson (Jeremy), Justin Brown, David Brown, and Brian Brown; four great-grandchildren, Lilly Johnson, Brantley Johnson, John David Devers, Henry Abraham Devers, and one more on the way; one brother, Johnny Brown; two sisters, Martha Robinson (Jim), and Ruby Smith Holloway; and two brothers-in-law, Leroy Booker and Carl Booker. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Blanche Kirk Brown; as well as a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 20, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Johnny Hancock and Bro. Tony Curtis. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Brown, Justin Brown, David Brown, Brian Brown, Payton Brown, Leroy Booker, Jeremy Johnson, Roger Brown, and Dustin Devers.
