Kenelia Ann Burns

Kenelia Ann Burns, 76, residence of Maud, Alabama passed away at her home on April 19, 2019 following a prolonged illness. Kenelia was born on May 26, 1942 in Bradford, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Thetford, Avery Knott Thetford, and brother, Jerry Thetford, all of Bradford, Tennessee. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, JB Burns; two sons, Kelvin and Kendrick Burns; two daughter in laws, Regina and Kristen Burns; and four grandchildren, Clif, Lillie, Kesley, and John Luke. Kenelia graduated from Bradford High School in 1960 and then from Mississippi State College for Women in 1964 with a degree in home economics. She later completed a master's degree in elementary education and taught school for 29 years. She taught cake-decorating, directed and catered weddings, and numerous other events. As a pastor's wife, she was truly devoted to ministering to the church and the people of the community in which they served. Kenelia and JB's ministry have touched the lives of many people over the last 60 years including the service of 11 different church and their communities in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. She was most known for her joy and compassion for others. She always put others before herself. She had no greater love than that of her husband, family, and her Savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church, from 5pm until service time. Services will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church at 11am, officiated by Rev. Frank Ward. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Morgan, Todd Nelson, Jimmy Trussell, Andy Chumbley, Allen Burns, and Clif Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be John Luke Burns, Dr. Felix Morris, and Dr. Ben Kitchens, and the men of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made in Mrs. Kenelia's honor to the Spring Hill Youth Fund.
