Johnny D. Sims, 68, passed on to a better place after a long fight with illness on Monday, November 15, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born October 29, 1953, in Booneville, MS, the son of George O. and Edith H. Sims.
Johnny graduated from Booneville High School, Class of 1971. Following high school, he served in the Mississippi National Guard as a tanker for 4 years. He was a member of the IBEW for 40+ years and retired from TVA Pickwick Dam after 20+ years of service. He was married to Judy Sims for 25 years and was a proud member of the Tishomingo County Power Board, IBEW local 852, Jacinto Church of Christ, and Scoutmaster of Troop 122. Johnny enjoyed working with his hands and tending to his fields. There was never a stranger who stayed that way for long. He loved traveling, reading a good Clive Cussler novel, and watching a movie with family and friends with a bucket of his favorite popcorn. Johnny Sims was a kind, hardworking, jovial, responsible, loyal, honorable, and dedicated man. A loving father and friend, fearless, witty, and above all an amazing man.
Johnny is predeceased by his parents, George and Edith Sims, and brother in law, Hoyt Wade. Survived by brother Larry Sims and wife Freda, Sister Joan Wade, special friend Brenda Stewart, step-son Nic Beerbower and wife Annette, daughter Tessa Sims, son Blake Sims and wife Courtney, daughter Delaney Mask and husband Perry, daughter Rachel Sims, son Zack Sims and wife Gabby, son Lucas Sims, grandchildren- Aires Sims, Alastar Sims, Anistyn Mask, Austin Rogers, Izabell Sims, and adopted grandson Braxton Lee. Needless to say, he had close friends and people he considered family from all over the United States.
