John Travis Hendrix, 88, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his residence. Mr. Hendrix was a member of New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran. He retired from Genesco Shoe Company and loved gardening. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Engle Hendrix; two sons, Steve Hendrix and Tim Hendrix (Beverly); two brothers, Bobby Hendrix and Charles Hendrix; one sister, Sylvia Hutson; two grandchildren, Brennen Hendrix (Jess) and Jonathan Hendrix (Kayla); and four great-grandchildren, Stella, Owen, Lillian, and Emmett Hendrix. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aude and Minnie Frederick Hendrix; 2 sisters, Evelyn Jones and Clesteen Jordan; and four brothers, Joe Hendrix, Herman Hendrix, Troy Hendrix, and Billy Howard Hendrix; as well as three infant siblings. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 3, at New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Jack Whitley and Bro. Tommy Leatherwood with a tribute by Tim Hendrix. Interment will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 2, at New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will continue beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
