Jewel Franks Dean, born on December 30, 1940, in Alabama, peacefully passed away at her residence on February 23, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a beloved member of her family and community, known for her warm heart and gentle spirit.

Jewel dedicated her life to her family, cherishing every moment spent with her daughter, Vickie Bunch (Thomas), and her grandchildren, Joseph Dean (Laura) and Kendra Dean. Jewel's affection extended to her great-grandchildren, Aden Osborne, Aniston Tensley, Alaska Tensley, and Jada Dean, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Her love for them was evident in the countless hours she devoted to nurturing and enjoying their company.

Outside of her family, Jewel was a devoted member of Rocky Springs United Methodist Church, where she found fellowship and purpose. Known for her love of the outdoors, she enjoyed mowing her yard and taking care of her home. Jewel's loyal companion, her dog named Tag, was often by her side, bringing her additional joy in her everyday life.

Jewel was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, H.W. "Duck" Dean, her son, Kenneth Dean, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Dean. She also mourned the loss of her parents, Oscar and Julie Franks, and her siblings, including sisters Margaret Hubbard, Frances Magerity, Judy Franks, Betty Pilgrim, and Carolyn Guion, as well as brothers Ray Franks, Roy Franks, and Earl Franks. Additionally, she was met by her sisters-in-law, Mary Hall and Charlene Dean, and brothers-in-law, Paul Harvey, Palmer Hall, and Sam Dean.

A graveside service to honor Jewel Franks Dean will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery, officiated by Bro. Tony Curtis. Pallbearers will be Joey Pickle, Joseph Dean, Caleb Vanbibber, Dean Harvey, Brian Harvey, Sonny, Jacob Harvey, Joshua Harvey, and Ollie Cliburne. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Bunch, Kean Harvey, J.O. Franks, and Kenny Franks. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate her life and the lasting impact she made on those around her. Jewel's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones.
