Jean C. Lard-Hunt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 6, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Born on April 9, 1940, in Mississippi, Jean enriched the lives of those around her with her kindness, faith, and vibrant spirit.
Jean was a devoted member of the New Beginning Fellowship in Iuka, where she found joy in her community and shared her love for gospel singing. Her deep-rooted faith served as a cornerstone throughout her life, guiding her actions and shaping her values. Music held a special place in her heart, and she was proud to be a member of the Suth-un Gos-pul Traditon band, where she could share her passion and joy with others.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Hunt; her cherished sons, Robert Lard (Charlotte) and James Anthony Lard (Angela); her beloved grandchildren, Cody Lard (Amy) and Jessica Hart (Adam); and her adoring great-granddaughter, Gracie Hart. Jean also leaves behind her stepchildren, Robbie Hunt (Tanya) and Amanda Crum (Kimbel), and her treasured step-grandchildren, Faith Hunt, Allie Hunt, and Micah Crum. Jean was fortunate to have a close companion in Era Knight, whose friendship meant the world to her, along with several nieces and nephews who will also miss her dearly.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mason Crider, and her siblings, Mae Walker, Lorene Arnold, Ruth Smith, and Paul Crider. Their memories will remain a gentle reminder of the love and strength that she carried throughout her life.
Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be held on January 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both taking place at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, located at 302 North Pearl Street. Burial will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Jean C. Lard-Hunt's legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth, love, and musical talent. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who find comfort in the memories of her laughter, love, and unwavering faith.
