James "Red" Norvle Thornton

James "Red" Norvle Thornton, 93, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at his daughter's residence. He was born on September 3, 1926 in Iuka to Pete and Grace Thornton. He served n the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was a retired employee of the Tishomingo County Electric Power Association. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Woodruff (Van) of Madison, AL; one grandchild, Allison Roberts (John Taylor); one great grandchild, Kennedy Grace Roberts; and special friends, Peggy and Raymond Rodabaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Grace Thornton; his wife, Billie Thornton; his brothers, Odell, Pedro, and Cecil Thornton; and his sister, Avanell Edmondston. The funeral will be a graveside service on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery presided over by Rev. Tony Curtis. Pallbearers will include Van Woodruff, John Taylor Roberts, Ron Thompson, Raymond Rodabaugh, Curtis Rodabaugh, and Scotty Scott. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Appreciation from the family goes to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care.
