James Hubert Jourdan

James Hubert Jourdan, 94, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was born on October 29, 1929, and was a lifelong resident of the Tishomingo County area. At his passing, he was the oldest active member of South Crossroads Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon for many years. He had joined South Crossroads Baptist Church in 1951, and he loved his church family and helped others in so many ways. He enjoyed helping provide the brotherhood breakfasts. He retired as a dispatcher with the Mississippi Forestry Commission when he was 65. James was a successful businessman throughout his lifetime and past roles included being a member of the Board of Directors at Regions Bank, serving on the Tishomingo School Board, and owning his own grocery store. He loved being in nature by farming livestock and produce throughout his life, and taking care of his cows was his favorite thing to do. He was a father, grandfather, and uncle figure to many others, providing love to his family both near and far. Survived by his granddaughter, Regina Faye Jourdan of Tishomingo, MS, and her family, Sandra Roberts (Bob) of Iuka, MS, Angela Favre (Bo) of Bay St. Louis and Christy Forsythe (Joe) of Plainfield, IL; one sister, Hazel Gene of Hammond, LA; great-grandchildren, Nicole McAdams of Iuka, MS; Rachael Ervin (Caleb) of Iuka, MS; Nicholas Brockett of Charleston, SC; Ashley Smith (Dalton) of Quitman, MS; Jessica Brockett of Tishomingo, MS; Great-great-grandchildren, Braydon Smith, Chloe Smith, Cameron Smith, Avery McAdams, Jameson McAdams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Rhoda Rebecca (Bonds) Jourdan; son, Bobby Wayne Jourdan; parents, John Wesley Jourdan and Janette Missouri Dobbs Jourdan; siblings Almous Jourdan, Waylon Jourdan, Parmer Lee Jourdan, Colene Thomas, Waco Jourdan, and Nelda McRae; and his special friend, Billie Jean Hester. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Crossroads Baptist Church or any charity of your choice. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the South Crossroads Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation, officiated by Bro. Mike Neighbors.
