James Atkins, 92, of Iuka, MS, died Friday, August 31, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Mr. Atkins retired from Ford Motor Company in Sheffield, AL after 27 years of employment. Following retirement, he worked until recently at Atkins Electrical and Plumbing. Mr. Atkins loved to work and could be seen regularly around town mowing yards and helping others. He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Atkins (David Williams) of Iuka; one son, Jimmy Atkins (Crystal) of Iuka; eight grandchildren, Kym Atkins, Chrystal Vogan (Curtis), Brandi Jordan (Brent), Steven Atkins (Courtney), Mandy Hubbard, Rylee Rogers, Jennifer Walker, and Kristi Hebel; 22 great-grandchildren; and his childhood friend, Olive Merrill of California. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Jordan; a grandson, Bradley Lambert; his brothers, Alfred Atkins, Elmer Atkins, George Atkins, O. C. Adkins, and Junior Adkins; and a sister, Lucille Taylor. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 3, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Jessie Hisaw. Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jimmy Atkins, Steven Atkins, David Whitfield, Jeff Lovelace, John Morris, and Mike Hayes. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
