Ward Gene “Candyman” Lambert, 66, of Cherokee, Alabama, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at his residence in Allsboro. He fought a courageous battle. Born April 27, 1955, in Tishomingo County, MS, Gene was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver. He spent most of his work life watching sunrises through a windshield and he wouldn’t have had it any other way. He loved hunting, fishing, and driving big trucks. He also enjoyed cowboy shows and Alabama football, but most of all he loved his family and friends. Those closest to him were his “Roundhouse Gang” including his wife, Debra “Debbie Kay” Lambert; Joe and Venus Lambert; B. J. Lambert and Amber Boyles, Lexie, Jakob, and Rhett; Cody and Morgan Lambert, Rylan, Caledon, Chanley, Cohen, and Silas; Ricky and Jodi Vandiver, Weston, and Eli; Justin and Daisy Lambert, Charlene, and Kyle; Matt and Brittany Stanfield, Macon, and Michael Paul; and Dewayne and Angie Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Lambert and Betty Lou Dooley Lambert Uselton, and multiple brothers and sisters. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rick Dunn. Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to his care team, Nurse Sara Overstreet, Nurse Laura, Dr. Boorgu, and the staff of the P.D. Clinic. The family would also like to thank the Trell Nunley family. He loved and appreciated you all for everything you did for him. There are not enough words to express the sorrow we feel with the loss of our beloved Pop, but we are very grateful to have had him in our lives.
