Emma Frances Akers, 83, of Iuka, MS, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mrs. Akers was a member of Snowdown United Methodist Church and a retired nurse. She was a past-Worthy Matron of the Iuka Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed reading, bird watching, and gardening. She is survived by two sons, Robert “Buddy” Akers and Mark Akers (Amy); one daughter, Stephanie Barnett (Tommy); a son-in-law, Carl Booker; one brother, David “Bootie” Curtis; and one sister, Martha Gist, all of Iuka; eight grandchildren, Brad Booker, Chaz Akers (Jill), Kristin Johnson (Dewey), Brianna Campbell (Mitch), Allie Barnett, Amanda Akers, Emily Mitchell, and Daleanna Akers; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Akers; a daughter, Terri Booker; a son, Stanley Akers; an infant son, Patrick Akers; a grandchild, Carla Booker Branson; and a sister, Barbara Gist. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Donnie Riley. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Chaz Akers, Steven Akers, David Gist, John White, Mitch Campbell, and Bo Gist. Dr. Ben Kitchens will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.
