Betty Ruth Woodruff Pounders, 88, of Iuka, MS, died Saturday, September 3, 2022, at The Hospitality House in Iuka. Mrs. Pounders was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and was formerly employed at Fred’s in Iuka. She also played a large role in supporting her husband in his barber shop business. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and loved gardening and canning. As one of 14 siblings, Betty was a mother figure to her six younger sisters and was focused on her family throughout her life. She is survived by two sons, Donald Pounders (Gladys) and Delwyn Pounders (Marilyn); one daughter, Deborah Warren; one brother, Tullon Woodruff; five sisters, Mary Quay South, Jean Skinner, Ann Browder, Nadine Walker, and Rita Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Pounders; her parents, Rube and Eula Woodruff; four sisters, Kathryn Williams, Ilene Lauderdale, Louise Padgett, and Sue McCulloch; three brothers, Billy, Wayne, and Walton Woodruff; and a son-in-law, Stanley Warren. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Stanley Magill. Interment will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 5, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
