Ava Loyce Smith, 89, of Corinth, Mississippi, died on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in her home. Mrs. Smith was born August 10, 1933 in Jackson, TN. She was a long-time member of the Church of the Crossroads and led the lady’s group for over 10 years. Mrs. Ava was a very talented interior designer and enjoyed it as not only her career but also as a hobby. In her free time, she liked to travel, do yardwork, and work in her garden. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Ava is survived by her children, Gena Black, Royce Askew, Jr., Richie Ryan Askew, and Lorian Scott; her grandchildren, Stephanie Black, Bethanie Nelson, Amy Lucero, Andrew Black, Christopher Askew, Molly Beth Cupples, Rebecca Askew, Jordan Vess, Chloe Lindsey, Jackson Lindsey, Weston Lindsey, Joshua Askew, and Kayla Askew; her great-grandchildren, Olive Nelson, Nolan Smith, Vaida Nelson, Cameron Cupples, Chandler Cupples, and Robbie Vess; and her siblings, Ruth True, Wayne Hilliard, and Frieda Robertson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Smith; her parents, Gilbert and Louise Hilliard; and her twin sister, Joyce DePriest. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen, officiated by Pastor Ginger Holland and Bro. James Rich. Pallbearers include Andrew Black, Weston Lindsey, Jack Lindsey, Christopher Askew, Josh Askew, and Jesse Nelson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Hollywood Cemetery (located at 406 Hollywood Dr, Jackson, TN 38301).
