Curtis E. Jourdan, 86, died Sunday, July 9, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1930 to Herman and Earnastine Jourdan. He graduated from Burnsville High School and went on to earn numerous degrees from Mississippi State University in the education field. He was known to many as a coach, teacher, counselor, principal, and Sunday school teacher. He loved watching his Mississippi State Bulldogs play football, basketball, and baseball. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Mississippi. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Earnastine; his wife, Katherine; son, Gregory Curtis Jourdan; brother, Hershell Jourdan; and a sister, Linda Jourdan Courtney. Curtis is survived by his daughters, Kathy Jourdan Baxter (Jay) and Brenda Jourdan Blanks (Peyton); grandchildren, Bridgett Williams Dailey, Ashleigh Jourdan McIntosh, Katie Jourdan, Shelby Jourdan, Nicholas Williams, Hunter Blanks, and Curtis Jourdan, and seven great grandchildren. The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. The funeral service will be on the following day at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, also at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Pallbearers will be Craig Dailey, Dakota Dailey, Nick Williams, Cason Hogue, Nicky McRae, and Doyle Rorie. The burial will be at Temple Baptist Church.
