Calvin Eugene "Shorty" Southward

Calvin Eugene “Shorty” Southward, 59, of Iuka, MS, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his residence. Mr. Southward was a member of the Iuka High School Class of 1975, where he played football for his entire high school career. He was also a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed traveling and riding his Harley. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Iuka. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jon Taylor. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by three sisters, Doris Digby, Janie Tensley (Donnell), and Melissa Bennett (Terry Ray); one brother, Johnny Southward (Gloria); two aunts, Luviana Powell and Pernice Johnson; eight uncles, Lawrence Neil, and James, Houston, Jimmy, Wilma, Wendell, Bill, and Clephous Southward; two nieces, Cortina and Maranna; five nephews, Anthony, Kendrick, Martin, Jonathan, and Trey; ten great-nieces; and one great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucion Calvin and Mary Debbie Slaughter Southward; two aunts, Louise Powell and Della Cummings; and three uncles, Floyd Southward, Allen Southward, and James Neil.
