James Taylor Rushing

James Taylor Rushing, 45, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at his home in Laurel, MD. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS. Burial will follow in the Burnsville, MS cemetery. Officiating will be Stan Dean, Minister of the Killen Church of Christ in Killen, AL. J. Taylor worshipped at the Laurel Church of Christ in Laurel, MD. J. Taylor graduated from Purdue University in W. Lafayette, IN with a degree in journalism. He worked as a newspaper reporter in Kenosha, WI, Baton Rouge, LA, Arlington, TX, Tallahassee, FL, and for the last nine years, he has served as a Senate and House reporter in Washington, D.C. for several news organizations. Survivors include his father, Travis Rushing and stepmother, Kaye Gist Rushing of Florence, AL; stepsister, Lori Myrick (Ken); stepbrother, Nathan Springer (Bethany); nieces and nephews, Ethan, Hannah Beth, and Kendal Myrick of Greenhill, AL, and Ella and Eli Springer of Killen, AL; and his uncle Dale Williams (Margie) of Iuka, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Williams Rushing; grandparents, Glenn and Mary Williams and Jim and Georgia Rushing. Pallbearers are Jeff Blackburn, Vance Eden, Ken Myrick, Bill Rushing, Nathan Springer, and Dale Williams. The family requests that in lieu of flower, donations be made to North AL Christian Children’s Home, 6372 County Road 63, Florence, AL 35634 or to Pine Vale Children’s Home, 1872 County Road 700, Corinth, MS 38834.
