Robert Emmett Marshall

Robert Emmett “Bob” Marshall, 87, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, September 21, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Mr. Marshall was a long-time and very active member of the Iuka United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, and worked internationally for General Electric, retiring as a plant manager. He was a rockhound, and was a member of the Jackson and Huntsville Gem and Mineral Societies, as well as a member and co-founder of the Tupelo Gem and Mineral Society. His interest in rock and mineral collecting led to another hobby, as Bob also enjoyed designing and making jewelry from the stones he collected. He was a mason and an Eagle Scout, and was formerly a member of the Iuka Lions Club. He was a member and former board member of the Tishomingo County Development Foundation. Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. He was currently working on a project to display some of his collection of rocks, minerals, and prehistoric artifacts at the Tishomingo State Park Museum. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, at the Iuka United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Kerry Powell. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Savarin of Blissfield, MI, and Robin South (Maxey) of Iuka; three grandchildren, Heather Marks (Doug) of Blissfield, MI, Nathan South (Hannah) of Iuka, and Erin Lovins of Iuka; five great-grandchildren, Noah Marks, Peyton Marks, Levi Marks, Gabriel South, and Bridgett South; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Pat Frederick, and her daughters, Patty and Cindy Frederick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Morris Marshall; his parents, Horace and Dorthy Jennings Marshall; two sisters, Lynn Heller and Jean McClaskey; and a grandson-in-law, A. J. Lovins.
