James Carlyle Wieser, 79, of Iuka, MS, formerly of Germantown, TN, died Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – East in Memphis. Born August 13, 1936, in Arlington, NE, Jim was the son of the late Harold J. and Merle Davis Wieser. He retired from Cargill in Memphis, where he was a senior manager. Jim’s career spanned the globe, having worked as the general manager of a tapioca facility in Thailand and project manager of a palm oil facility in Indonesia. He also held positions with Cargill in Sioux City, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Dayton, OH, Memphis, TN, and several other U.S. locations. He leaves behind many great friends and acquaintances made throughout his life. Jim was a craftsman, and loved woodworking. He enjoyed making furniture for himself and others. He was a loving father and grandfather, and also enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, at the Iuka United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Kerry Powell. Pallbearers include Adam Wieser, Max Wieser, Ross Wieser, Dan Wieser, Don Wieser, and Nicholas Soldan. Honorary pallbearers include Bert Soldan and Harry Soldan. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his loving wife, Monika Wieser of Iuka; one son, James Wieser, Jr. and wife, Kay, of Arcanum, OH; one daughter, Jackie Landsom of Bellingham, WA; and four grandchildren, Adam Wieser of Frederick, MD, Max Wieser of Scottsdale, AZ, Ross Wieser and wife, Jessalin, of Arcanum, OH, and Leah Landsom of Seattle, WA. Jim and Monika were blessed with two “new” great-grandchildren, Ezra James Wieser and Elijah Paul Wieser, the children of Ross and Jessylin. Preceding him to Heaven were his son, Joel Wieser; his stepson, Harry Lassiter; and a brother, Donald Wieser. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
