Mary Esther Burns

Mary Esther Burns, 87, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Burns was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. She was formerly employed in housekeeping at the Iuka Hospital, and was a homemaker. She loved the outdoors and taking care of her animals. She also enjoyed genealogy and spending time with her family. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, officiated by Ricky Fields. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brian Bonds, Bradley Bonds, Andrew Burns, Jon Burns, Dylan Mackey, and Devin Mackey. Honorary pallbearers include Keith Morris and Brent Bonds. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one son, Roger Burns (Angela) of Lake Charles, LA; three daughters, Wanda Bonds (Tommy), Sheila Phifer (Waylon), and Pamela Mackey (Brian), and a daughter-in-law, Ruby Burns, all of Iuka; three sisters, Eula Newcomb of Iuka, and Flaudie Bullard and Annie Faye Meteer, both of Corinth; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hayes Burns; a son, Thomas Harold Burns; a grandson, Joseph Burns; three brothers, Albert, Luther, and Lawrence Lambert; three sisters, Virgie Robertson, Omie Morris, and Mabel Parsons; and an infant sister, Virlie Lambert.
