Bob W. Chaffin died July 17, 2014 at his home in Iuka, Mississippi. He was born February 10, 1942 to Nonan and Luverta Chaffin of Booneville, Mississippi. He began his career with Sears & Company in 1964 and in 1972 became the owner/operator of the Sears Franchise in Iuka, which he operated with his wife Margie for twenty-one years in Iuka, Mississippi. He enjoyed photography, traveling, nature, gardening, feeding his backyard critters and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren Butler and Courtney. He enjoyed watching his grandson Butler play football for the Tishomingo County HS Braves and spent time in the fall watching him practice and play.
Bob graduated from Booneville High School in 1960 and enjoyed the monthly class reunion lunch with his classmates. He served in the Air Force in 1960 and 1961 in the Military Police before beginning his career with Sears & Company. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years Margie, his son Michael of Iuka; his daughter Camille Whitehead (Phillip) of Tishomingo; his brother Benny (Linda) of Booneville; his grandson Butler Whitehead of Tishomingo; his granddaughter Courtney Chaffin of Corinth; his Great Nephew Storm Chaffin of Booneville.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nonan and Luverta; his father and mother in law Leonard and Marie Thorne of Belmont; his nephew Mark Chaffin and Great Nephew Jordan Chaffin of Booneville, Mississippi. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Grisham, Don Horn, Ray Mahan, Don Murphy, Jerry Prather, Mel Snider and Donnie Wilburn.
A family memorial service will be held at the Tishomingo Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. An online guestbook can be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com.
