Edith Louise “Granny” Barnett, 94, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Barnett was a devout Christian, and was a lifelong member of Tishomingo Baptist Church. She loved children, and was a baby sitter for over forty years. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, at Tishomingo Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Services will be officiated by Bro. Bobby Watkins and Bro. Robbie Crane. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers include her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers include any children she was a baby sitter for. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Dexter (Jesse) of Iuka, Darlene Watkins (Bobby) of Tishomingo, and Laurel Leigh Gray (Dennis) of Leighton, AL; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Barnett Wade of Atoka, TN; two brothers, Charles Jones and Connie Ray Jones, both of Iuka; one sister, Jeanette Wilson of Iuka; nine grandchildren, Eric Barnett (Carolyn), Stephanie Powers (Daniel), Richard Holt (Tasha), Tanya Kennedy (R. J.), Sonya Gray (Joe), Jonathan Gray (Lindsey), Melanie Beene (William), Kayla Hill (Tim), and Wayne Lowe, Jr.; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Barnett; a son, Billy Barnett; her parents, Howard and Laura Jones; two brothers, Bill and Gaylon Jones; and four sisters, Odell Pharr, Lorene Bishop, Mary Kirk, and Dorothy Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home Resident Fund or to the Tishomingo Baptist Church.
