Dexter “Deck” Philbin, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He served during the times of the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was also 57 year member and Master Mason belonging to the Iuka Lodge #94 F&AM. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, leatherworking, and fishing. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 PM on Wednesday, April 2 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Nathan Davidson. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 2 daughters – Barbara Rainwater (Carl) of Phoenix, AZ and Janet Scruggs (Bill) of Madison, MS; 1 son – Mike Philbin (Janet) of Little Rock, AR; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Cutshall Philbin; his son, Stevie Philbin; his parents, John and Mary Philbin; and two brothers.
