Allen “Troy” Hendrix, 77, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died Saturday, December 7, 2013, at home with his family at his bedside. Mr. Hendrix was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was a lifetime musician, and was retired from the United States Air Force. He also worked as a History teacher, a security officer, and as writer of the Daily Corinthian “Music Beat” column. Mr. Hendrix enjoyed playing music with friends, writing songs, photography, and camping. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, story telling, baseball, football, and spending time with family and friends. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, officiated by Elder Roger Browning. Interment will follow in Little Flock Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers include John Wesley Hendrix, Tim Hendrix, John Abston, Selby LaBarre, Eric Lowrey, and Tyler Ligon. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Joan Brawley Hendrix of Burnsville, MS; his children, Joe Allen Hendrix (Debbie) of Corinth, MS, Sheila Abston (John) of Savannah, TN, and Leland Hendrix of Corinth, MS; four grandchildren, John Wesley Hendrix (Melissa), Lindsey Lowrey (Eric), Clarissa Brumley, and Tyler Ligon; two great-grandchildren, Lori Jo Lowrey and Annlee Lowrey; three brothers, Travis Hendrix (Peggy), Bobby Hendrix (Tammy), and Charles Hendrix (Pud); one sister, Sylvia Hutson (Robert); and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Minnie Bell Frederick Hendrix; three brothers, Herman, Billy Howard, and Joe Hendrix; and two sisters, Evelyn Jones and Clesteen Jordan. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
