Horace W. Smith, 82, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died Monday, November 25, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born July 6, 1931 to Ernest and Celeste Smith of Burnsville, MS. He married his sweetheart Mavis Boyette on January 7, 1950. They were pen pals from the Progressive Farmer prior to getting married. He lived in Michigan 36 years, where he worked for Bonded Guard Services of Detroit and also drove a school bus for Van Buren Public Schools in Belleville, MI for over 22 years. He returned to Burnsville in 1986, and worked for B&B Camper Sales until poor health prohibited it. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 9 PM on Friday, November 29 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, officiated by Pastor Robert J. White. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mavis Boyette Smith of Burnsville, MS; 2 daughters – Rebecca White (Robert) of Belleville, MI and Pamela Taepke of Tecumseh, MI; 1 sister – Kathleen Wiginton (Johnny) of Glen, MS; 7 grandchildren – Ryan, Nathan, Eric, and Andrea Taepke; Rachel Christian (Rob), Emily Similo (Kori), and Natalie White; and 3 great grandchildren – Evelynn, Madelynn, and Kolin Similo; one niece, Sharon Wright (David) of Nashville, TN; and two nephews, Kerry Reynolds (Charlotte) of Corinth and Troy Smith (Deb) of Dundee, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Celeste Smith, and his brother, Weber Smith.
