Edgar J. Johnson

Edgar J. Johnson, 84, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Johnson was a member of Fairview Community Church. He was a former iron worker, and was a member of the Iron Workers Local #395 in Highland, IN. Having earned the fifty-year award, he was very active as a Mason and a Shriner, and was a member of the Highland, IN Lodge #569 F&AM. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and especially loved his Yorkshire Terriers, whom he called his “babies”. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, and helping others. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Jimmy Daniel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Johnson of Iuka, MS; one son, Edgar Johnson, Jr. and wife, Deidre, of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Barbara Hudson of Oxford, MS, and Yvonne Shepherd and husband, Ron, of Culver, IN; two sisters, Ruth McDougal and Jane Rhodes, both of Corinth, MS; seven grandchildren, Kristina Johnson, Derek Johnson and wife, Dianna, Sommar Morrow, Sara Beth Hudson, Matthew Brock Hudson, Denver Shepherd and wife, Jessie, and Savannah Larson and husband, Eric; and five great-grandchildren, Tawny Morrow, Jackson Morrow, Jack Larson, Lincoln Johnson, and Thomas Larson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bryant and Eula Pearl Holland Johnson; two sisters, Mamie “Sis” Gray and Amy Hannon; and a brother, Hugh “Bud” Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings Fellowship or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
