Kathie Sowards McDonald, 42, of Golden, Mississippi, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. She was a kind and gentle soul, and enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and sitting on her front porch. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 9 PM on Wednesday, May 8 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 Noon on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Sammy Barnett. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Franklin McDonald of Golden; her mother, Suzanne Deaton (Gene) of Iuka; and her father, Tommy Sowards (Barbara) of Las Cruces, NM; 1 son – Tyler Cavness (Ashley) of Burnsville; and 1 step son – Shane McDonald of Golden; 1 daughter – Kellie Burks (B.J.) of New Albany; 1 brother – Tommy Sowards (Jennifer) of Iuka; 2 sisters – Kristie Ham (Kevin) and Kim Amerson (Dion), both of Iuka; 3 step sisters – Deborah Thorn (Steve) of Belmont, Jessica Daily (Chris) of Belmont, and Dianne Henson (Nicky) of Pleasant Site, AL; 2 step grandchildren – Johnathan and Skylar McDonald; 7 nephews – Daniel Sowards, Dylan Amerson, Colten Epperson, Jeremy Amerson, Caden Ham, Baylor Storment, and Xaviar Deaton; and 2 nieces – Natalie Storment and Shelby Mayfield.
