Rev. L. R. Lewis, Jr., 77, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Rev. Lewis was a member of Mynot Missionary Baptist Church, and was a lifelong minister and missionary, having founded several churches in Washington, Arizona, and Mississippi. He was also the former owner and operator of Lewis’ Fish Market in Iuka and Corinth. He was a state missionary for the Baptist Missionary Association of Mississippi, and was a fifty-year member of the Iuka Lodge #94 F&AM. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Dan Hindman. Interment will follow in Campground Cemetery. Pallbearers include Sidney Whitehurst, Jr., Eddie Johnson, Ethan Jones, Adrian Figueroa, Joe Robinson, and Shawn Yarber. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Jean Johnson Lewis of Iuka, MS; two sons, L. R. “Sonny” Lewis, III, of Covington, LA, and John David Lewis of Poplarville, MS; two daughters, Debra Jean Lewis of Iuka, MS, and Mary Lewis Miller of Covington, LA; one sister, Shirley Lewis Jones of Iuka, MS; six grandchildren, Chad Miller, Micah Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Caleb Lott Lewis, Gabrielle Lewis, and Michael Lewis; and one great-grandchild, Mia Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Roosevelt and Elizabeth Brown Lewis.
