William “Bill” Curtis, Sr, 96, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. He was a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church, and also served twice in the U.S. Army Air Corp and Air Force, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He later served as the commander at the Iuka location of the Mississippi National Guard, and was a retired U.S. Postal Service carrier. He was a Mason, and member of the Burnsville Lodge #233 F&AM. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, camping, being a leader in the Cub Scouts, and was a private pilot that enjoyed flying many different private planes. Visitation is scheduled for 4 until 8 PM on Sunday, April 21 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Iuka United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jon Kaufman. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Carter Haines, Eddie Thomas, John Castleberry, Sidney Whitehurst, Frank Thomas, and Robert Grisham. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 1 son – William M. Curtis, Jr. (Charlotte) of Tupelo, MS; 1 daughter – Sandra C. Dorn (John) of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren – Arthur Reid Curtis of Tupelo; Lauren Young (Greg) of Franklin, TN; Candace L. Dorn of Jacksonville, FL; and Eric J. Dorn of Jacksonville, FL; and 2 great grandchildren – Wyatt Thomas and Cooper Bennett Young. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lady Joy Curtis; and his parents, Marshall and Minnie Curtis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iuka United Methodist Church.
