Velma Lynn Broughton

Velma Lynn Broughton, 84, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto. Mrs. Broughton was a very active and lifelong member of the Iuka Baptist Church. She retired from State Farm where she was employed as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed church activites, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, at the Iuka Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time. Services will be officiated by Bro. Gary Watkins. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tommy Nichols, David Nichols, Paul Nichols, Pete Walker, Larry Bonds, and Bill Moore. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one son, Sammy Broughton and wife, Cindy, of Elkmont, AL; one daughter, Glenda Jones and husband, Emory, of Iuka, MS; three grandchildren, Lynn Burns and husband, Brandon, of Iuka, MS, Tara Castile and husband, Heath, of Iuka, MS, and Jo Broughton of Pell City, AL; and three great-grandchildren, Corey Burns, Caleb Castile, and Cohen Castile. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Broughton; her father, George Hampton Pruitt; and her mother and stepfather, Adele and Sam Curtis.
