Frank Elizabeth Drake, 93, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Drake was a lifelong active member of the Iuka Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and served her church in many capacities, including the Ann Judson Circle and the Carmack Bucy Circle, as well as Director of the Junior Sunday School Department. She was a member of the Women’s Six Sunday School Class. She retired from the United States Department of Agriculture where she worked as a clerk for the A.S.C.S. During World War II she worked at Willow Run Bomber Factory in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she operated a crane that attached tail sections and gun turrets to B-24’s. Mrs. Drake was a member of the Twentieth Century Club of Iuka when the club became first place winners in the “Build a Better Community Contest” in 1950, securing a $10,000 prize for the City of Iuka. She was also an avid bridge player and an excellent cook. She was a generous contributor to the Samaritan Food Pantry, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Dr. Ronnie Hatfield. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Dean Hubbard, Ronny Stricklen, Doug Cutshall, Larry Bonds, Earl Walker, and Pete Walker. Honorary Pallbearers include Neal Harwell, John Kent, and Harold Lomenick. Visitation is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one son, Tommy Drake and wife, Lana, of Muscle Shoals, AL; three grandchildren, Tad Drake and wife, Bonnie, of Sheffield, AL, Angela Osborn and husband, Brad, of Sheffield, AL, and John Drake and wife, Jamie, of Killen, AL; and 2 great-grandchildren, Faith Drake of Sheffield, AL, and Hailey Drake of Killen, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Drake; and her parents, Frank and Rubye Woodley Campbell.
