Samuel L. “Sam” Dean, 83, of Corinth, Mississippi, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of Rocky Springs United Methodist Church. He was a Mason, and was a steward of the Memphis area Teamsters Union for over 40 years. He also taught school at the Central Grammar School. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 9 PM on Tuesday, April 24 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Terry L. Harmon, II and Jerry Guillory. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 4 daughters – Wanda Harmon (Rev. Terry, SR) of Corinth; Martha Davis (Lonnie) of Horn Lake; Patricia Gaffney of Mountain View, AR; and Rebecca Dean of Corinth; 2 step sons – Eric and Maurice Taylor, both of Memphis, TN; 2 sisters – Mary Dean Hall and Sarah Harvey (Paul), both of Iuka; 1 sister in law, Jewel Dean of Iuka; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Victoria Dean; his wife, Charlene Bullard Dean; his brother, H.W. “Duck” Dean; his nephew, Dr. Stanley Hall; his niece, Lisa Dean; and a brother in law, Aaron Palmer Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Springs United Methodist Church Fund.
